JSON syntax is strict
Property names and strings require double quotes, commas must be correctly placed, and JSON does not support JavaScript comments or trailing commas.
Pretty print for humans
Indented JSON is easier to inspect and debug. Minified JSON removes unnecessary whitespace for transport or compact storage.
Validation is not schema validation
Valid JSON only confirms correct syntax. Whether fields, types and required properties are correct depends on the application or schema that consumes the data.
JSON Validator & Minifier FAQ
What does the JSON Validator & Minifier do?
It parses JSON locally in your browser, reports syntax errors, pretty-prints valid JSON, creates compact minified output and measures structural properties such as nesting depth, keys, arrays and values.
What is the difference between valid JSON and valid JSON Schema?
JSON validation checks whether the document follows JSON syntax. Schema validation is a separate process that checks whether the document follows a specific structural contract, required fields, data types and other rules.
What does minifying JSON change?
Minification removes unnecessary whitespace and indentation while preserving the parsed JSON data. It should not change the values or structure of a valid JSON document.
Is my JSON sent to a server?
Normal validation, formatting and minification run locally in your browser. JSON is sent to the ToolItFast AI service only if you deliberately choose Analyze with AI.
What does the AI option add?
AI can explain complex parsing problems and review naming, consistency, organization and maintainability. Deterministic browser parsing remains the source of truth for whether the JSON syntax is valid.
